Evernight Kit Leaked: A Strong, But Specialized Addition to The HP Meta

Since the very beginning, March 7th has always been one of the fan-favorite units within Honkai: Star Rail. After all, her face is the game icon for the mobile version.
Given her popularity and story importance, even as a 4-star unit, March 7th still got a free alternate path unit back in version 2.4, dubbed Hunt March by the playerbase. Fans of the game have always hoped for the inclusion of a 5-star version of their beloved and adorable mascot.
The good news is that just recently, the Official HSR accounts on social media have announced a brand new 5-star form for March 7th, going by Evernight. With the release of the newest version 3.5 of Honkai: Star Rail comes the new beta leaks of version 3.6 and the floodgate of information related to her kit and her prospects of synergy with the current HP meta.

Evernight Kit Leak Details
From the announcement, we can expect that Evernight will be an Ice Remembrance unit, which will make her the first 5-star with this combination, as well as the 5th unit in the Remembrance path that was introduced very recently back in version 3.0. The Remembrance path centers around summoning and controlling memosprites (companion creatures that fight alongside characters), making her kit much longer and more complicated than it first meets the eye.
According to a post on Reddit, Evernight is an HP scaler with a leaked kit that is as follows:
Talent – When entering combat, Evernight will summon her memosprite, Evey, who has 160 speed and a Max HP of 100% of Evernight's Max HP.
Memosprite Talent – Evey is CC immune but has an increased chance of being attacked. While it is on the field, both Evey and Evernight's damage dealt is increased, and using any abilities will consume 1% of Evey's Max HP. Upon summoning, Evey immediately takes action. When it disappears, Evey gives Evernight energy and advances her action forward.
Ultimate – Evernight summons Evey and deals damage to all enemies. Afterward, Evernight enters a special state with 2 charges called "Darkest Riddle" (a powered-up mode), where both she and Evey become CC immune. Once the charges run out on her turn, she exits said state.
Skill – Evernight consumes HP to either summon or heal Evey while increasing the Crit Damage of all ally memosprites. Evernight also gains 2 "Memoria" (resource stacks that enhance damage), and if she is also in her special state, "Darkest Riddle," she gains an additional 14 "Memoria."
Memosprite Skill – Select one target and attack them, and gain 1 "Memoria". The more "Memoria" Evernight has, the more damage Evey will deal.
While in Special State "Darkest Riddle": When Evernight has 16 or more "Memoria," she immediately takes action to consume all of Evey's current HP and "Memoria" to launch an attack on all enemies. This action will consume 1 charge of "Darkest Riddle."
Though this may sound quite complicated at first, an easier way to understand is that Evernight's playstyle revolves around gaining and using her ultimate to buff herself and Evey while also using Evey to deal large AOE damage. Through constantly summoning and "killing" Evey, Evernight builds up her ultimate to deal bigger damage. Along with this, her Signature Lightcone further buffs her and her teammate's damage. Also, keep in mind that this is version 1 of the beta, and anything related to her kit can be changed over the coming weeks.

How Evernight Fits Into The Current Meta
With her kit mechanics established, the question becomes where Evernight will find her place in team compositions. As of now, it looks like Evernight's kit makes her an amazing sub DPS for the most recent meta HP DPS, Castorice. In fact, some people are speculating that she was tailor-made for the Queen of Death herself, much to their dismay.
The synergy stems from how their kits complement each other: Castorice's kit wants HP changes of her teammates to charge her ult and summon her dragon, while Evernight's mechanic of "killing" and summoning Evey allows Castorice to regain her dragon ridiculously fast while also contributing very decent damage to the team. There's also the added benefit that one of Evernight's Ascension Traits states that the more memosprites there are on the team, the more damage they will do. Currently, Castorice's best team already includes 3 Remembrance units (herself, Hyacine, and RMC), and with the addition of Evernight, all of their memosprites will deal even more damage than they already have.
However, early testing reveals some limitations in Evernight's versatility. The issue that Evernight currently faces is that, from leaks of testing, her performance outside of Castorice teams falls short of expectations. Her hypercarry team does decent damage when she is slotted with her premium supports of Hyacine, Tribbie, and RMC, while other team compositions prove sub-optimal at best. The nature of her kit means Evernight does not synergize very well with any other team as much as Castorice and Hypercarry setups, raising questions about the restrictiveness of her design.

Looking Forward
While these early impressions suggest Evernight may be more specialized than initially hoped, it's important to remember that beta testing is an ongoing process. In the next couple of weeks, her numbers and mechanics are subject to change based on feedback and internal testing. Additionally, future character releases and team archetypes could potentially unlock new synergies for Evernight that aren't apparent in the current meta landscape.
For now, Castorice mains are the primary audience that should be excited about Evernight, as she appears positioned to significantly enhance HP-scaling team compositions. Whether this specialization proves to be a strength or limitation will ultimately depend on how the meta evolves and whether players value having a powerful niche option over broader versatility.
