Dan Heng - Permansor Terrae Beta V3 Kit Changes: Was the Nerf Too Harsh?

The upcoming Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.6 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting updates yet. If you’ve been following the Amphoreus storyline, you know it’s building toward its finale in the next two patches. Alongside this climax, two units teased in Version 3.5’s story will finally become playable: Evernight and Terravox.
For many fans of the dragon man himself, Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae - nicknamed Terravox by the community - is one of the most anticipated releases. However, recent beta adjustments to his kit have sparked controversy, with debates about whether he was over-nerfed and how viable he will remain in the future meta.

Terravox Kit Summary
Terravox is an ATK-scaling Physical Preservation unit who focuses on shielding his team and enabling unique synergies. His skill and talent grant party-wide shields, while his ultimate combines AoE damage with additional protection.
What sets him apart from other Preservation units, like Aventurine, is his ability to designate a teammate as a “Bondmate” and apply his dragon, the Souldragon, to them. This mechanic effectively gives that character a summon on the field, opening new synergy paths—most notably with Sunday, who can then fully apply his buffing kit.
The Souldragon itself also contributes: it deals damage, helps break toughness, and triggers additional effects tied to the Bondmate’s attacks. These factors, combined with Terravox’s strong shielding, made him one of the most desirable units in the beta.

The Verdict: Huge Nerf?
According to a reliable leaker on Reddit, Version 3.6 Beta 3 adjustments weakened Terravox’s shields and changed how his Souldragon interacts with allies. Here are the major kit changes:
Shielding & Utility Adjustments
- Skill: Shield strength reduced from 30% → 20% of ATK + 400 → 320 for 3 turns.
- Ultimate: Shield lowered from 30% → 10% of ATK + 400 → 160 for 3 turns. AoE damage remains 300% ATK.
- Talent: Shield on Souldragon action reduced from 15% → 10% of ATK + 200 → 160 for 3 turns.
Dragon & Trace Changes
- Follow-up ATK: Souldragon’s action triggers a follow-up dealing 80% of Terravox’s ATK + additional damage equal to 80% of Bondmate’s ATK, but it now counts as Terravox’s attack instead of the teammate’s.
- Trace 2 (reworked): Terravox’s action advances by 40% at battle start. Bondmate attacks regenerate 5 Energy and advance the Souldragon’s action by 15%. (Previously part of Trace 3.)
- New Trace 3: Enhanced Souldragon action deals additional damage equal to 40% of Bondmate’s ATK to the enemy with the highest HP.
Relic Set Counterbalance
On paper, these nerfs seem severe, especially to his shielding strength. But there’s an important offset: a rework of the relic set Self-Enshrouded Recluse, now considered his best-in-slot.
- 2-Piece: Increases Shield Effect by 10%.
- 4-Piece: Boosts Shield Effect by 12%. When allies have a shield from the wearer, their CRIT DMG increases by 15%.
This redesign helps counteract the shield nerfs and even improves team damage output, softening the blow of the changes.

The Controversy: Souldragon’s Attack
The most divisive change isn’t actually the shield numbers - it’s how the Souldragon’s attack is now classified.
Originally, its follow-up was considered the teammate’s attack, enabling unique synergies with mechanics like Jade’s stack generation or Kafka’s energy light cone. This made Terravox a particularly exciting enabler.
After Beta 3, the follow-up is reclassified as Terravox’s own attack, removing those interactions entirely. Some players argue this was an unintended quirk now “fixed.” Others feel it stripped away a mechanic that gave him creative synergy potential and long-term design space.
Outlook
Overall, Terravox’s raw shield values were clearly reduced, but the relic rework mitigates some of the nerf. The bigger concern lies in his synergy potential: with the Souldragon’s reclassification, he loses unique team interactions that made him stand out.
Whether this will remain until release is uncertain—there are still at least two more beta rounds to go. For now, he remains viable but less distinctive than he initially appeared. Version 3.6 will determine if Terravox ultimately becomes a cornerstone Preservation unit or a safer, less creative alternative.
