Note that this is a Hero Wars Best Team guide for Hero Wars: Alliance, not Dominion Era, which is the PC/browser version of the game. Though the two are similar in a lot of ways, there are some differences in stats, so the best teams in Hero Wars: Alliance may not apply in Dominion Era.

What Makes a Hero Wars Team Great

What you need to know is that each Hero Wars team has a unique approach to achieving victory. Some teams focus on critical hits, some rely on heavy tanking, and some use dodges. What makes a team great is having all the heroes dedicated to improving their performance in their respective specialties, or at least helping in some way that’s adjacent to it. So, what makes a crit-based team great is if its members have skills that increase both their critical hit chance and damage.

If you can figure out what strategy you want your team to excel in, all that’s left is finding the right heroes to help you with that strategy.

Top 10 Best Hero Wars Teams

One thing to note is that the title of “Hero Wars Best Team” doesn’t really belong to any single team. The way Hero Wars is balanced, every Hero and team has a counter, so even the top teams can be beaten if you pick the right set of heroes. That being said, here are the teams that will almost consistently give you amazing results, as long as you don’t face a team that directly counters them.

Team 1: The Crit Team (FART)

Hero Wars support character Fafnir
Hero Wars support character Fafnir

Members:

  • Fafnir - Buff Support character
  • Artemis - DPS whose damage scales with total team HP and also blinds enemies
  • Tristan - DPS that also burns enemy energy
  • Cleaver - Heavy Tank
  • Julius - Tank that provides shields to allies

A part of the meta since the early days of the game, FART (Fafnir, Artemis, Tristan) has consistently been the go-to for players wanting a simple yet effective DPS team. Fafnir protects the squishy DPS heroes and buffs their attacks, while Cleaver and Julius provide even more protection by being your frontline defense.

Team 2: The Magic Specialists

Hero Wars support character Alvanor

Members:

  • Alvanor - Healer and protector
  • Iris - Makes any debuffs on enemies worse
  • Mushy & Shroom - Tank that spawns minions to redirect enemy attacks
  • Aurora - Tank that also deals AoE magic damage
  • Mojo - Casts a myriad of debuffs on the opponents

This is currently one of the best magic-based teams in Hero Wars. It’s great at dishing out and defending against magic damage. When you’re up against a team that has either low magic resistance or high magic damage, bust out this team for the win.

Team 3: Float Like A Butterfly, Sting Like A Bee

Hero Wars warrior character Yasmine

Members:

  • Octavia - Dodge buff support
  • Yasmine - Dodge warrior
  • Dante - Dodge Marksman
  • Sebastian - Armor stripper and crit chance buffer
  • Oya - Additional crit chance buffs and healing

The core of this team is Octavia, Yasmine, and Dante, which is the best trio of dodge experts in Hero Wars. Yasmine and Dante are big DPS heroes who have abilities that enhance their dodge chance, while Octavia boosts that probability even more while also providing energy whenever anyone on your team dodges. This trio alone makes the team amazing in any game mode.

Sebastian and Oya are here to further enhance the team’s offensive and defensive capabilities. Feel free to replace them when facing an enemy that needs special attention.

Team 4: The Self-Burn Team

Hero Wars characters Kayla and Aidan

Members:

  • Aidan - Main Healer
  • Kayla - High risk, high reward DPS
  • Julius - Tank that provides shields and buffs critical hits
  • Tempus - Slows down and stops enemies while speeding up your team.
  • Xe’sha - Drains your team HP in exchange for buffs and damaging the enemy

This team relies on juggling your team’s HP. Half of the abilities these heroes have will reduce their own HP in exchange for buffs, dealing damage to the enemy, and several other useful perks. The other half of their abilities will heal or even revive them while once again providing buffs.

Team 5: The Best Offense is A Good Defense

Hero Wars x Tomb Raider marksman character Lara Croft

Members:

  • Isaac - DPS that bypasses enemy armor
  • Julius - Tank that generates shields
  • Judge - Defender that also stuns and slows enemies
  • Lara Croft - DPS with enhanced crit capabilities
  • Nebula - Healer that also targets the weakest enemy

Isaac, Julius, and Judge all have abilities that generate shields for themselves and their allies, making this an incredibly tanky team. If the enemies still manage to bypass your shields, Lara Croft and Nebula have healing abilities to keep you safe until your shields go back online. All five heroes in this team also belong to The Way of Progress faction, giving them those sweet, sweet faction bonuses.

Team 6: The Raid Boss Slayers 1

The Hydra Raidbosses in Hero Wars
The Hydra Raidbosses in Hero Wars

Members:

  • Martha - Heals and gives speed buffs
  • Aidan - Provides even more healing and shields
  • Xe’Sha - Drains allied HP in exchange for massive damage buffs
  • Faceless - Copies abilities (main targets are Martha and Aiden), to further fortify your team
  • Mushy & Shroom - Spawns minions to attack, and her damage scales based on the amount of HP the team has been healed with

Now we come to Hero Wars’ raid bosses, mainly the Hydra heads you can access in the Elemental Cradle of your Guild. This team all works together to keep each other alive with healing while continuously building up damage thanks to Xe’Sha. Mush & Shroom will also keep getting stronger the more healing you get. Depending on the Hydra head type and your team’s level and equipment, this team can reach up to 200M+ damage. However, as you know, fighting the Hydra requires three teams, so what about the other two?

Team 7: The Raid Boss Slayers 2

Hero Wars marksman character Artemis
Hero Wars marksman character Artemis

Members:

  • Artemis - DPS that gets stronger the longer the battle
  • Fafnir - Support that will protect your team while buffing their damage
  • Galahad - Frontline Warrior that doubles as the team Tank
  • Tristan - Another frontline Warrior that will burn the Hydra’s energy
  • Dorian - Healer that will give your attacks the vampirism attribute

This is a pretty straightforward team. Artemis, Galahad, and Tristan shower the Hydra with attacks while Fafnir and Dorian give them some much-needed support through buffs and healing. Artemis’s first ability will increase in power every time your heroes use their first ability. The damage increase is even larger if her teammates are in the same faction, which they are in this team.

Team 8: The Raid Boss Slayers 3

Hero Wars marksman character Jhu
Hero Wars marksman character Jhu

Members:

  • Jhu - The main DPS
  • Mojo - Uses Jhu’s damage to deal even more damage with Hex
  • Thea - Healer that also boosts team attack speed
  • Celeste - Provides healing and buffs to allies, and debuffs to opponents.
  • Alvanor - Further healing and protection

The whole point of this team is to keep Jhu alive for as long as possible. Jhu’s second skill makes his attacks chip away a certain percentage of the enemy’s HP. This allows him to dish out a whopping 10M+ damage every time he attacks.

Team 9: Debuffs Galore

Hero Wars marksman character Dante

Members:

  • Dante - Debuffs the opponent’s main stat every time his abilities hit
  • Iris - Prolongs debuffs while casting her own
  • Tempus - Debuffs enemy defenses while also slowing them down
  • Octavia - Compliments Tempus by buffing her allies’ armor penetration
  • Nebula - Keeps your team from receiving any debuffs

Debuffs are the name of the game for this team. Dante, Iris, and Tempus all have abilities that cast debuffs, while Iris also has abilities that will prolong them and convert them into damage. Nebula will keep your own team from receiving debuffs, so your enemy can’t use the same strategy against you. Meanwhile, Octavia will buff your team’s armor penetration to move in for the kill.

Team 10: A Beginner’s Best Friend

Hero Wars warrior character Galahad
Hero Wars warrior character Galahad

Members:

  • Galahad - Your starting hero. A decent DPS that can also tank
  • Ginger - DPS that will deal damage to all enemies at once
  • Astaroth - Useful tank that can cast shields to protect teammates
  • Fafnir - Support that will buff your teammates defensively and offensively
  • Artemis - Additional DPS

Most people who are just starting out and want to keep it F2P will only have a handful of heroes to play with at first, making this team the best for them. All of the heroes here can be obtained within the first couple of hours of playing the game. Nothing fancy about the strategy though, just hit the enemy hard with multiple DPS while being protected by Astaroth and buffed by Fafnir.

Honorable Mentions & Niche Teams

Hero Wars healer character Guus
Hero Wars healer character Guus

Team 1: Team Guus

Members:

  • Guus - Healer and physical damage buffer
  • Julius - Tank that compliments Guus’ critical damage buffs
  • Dante - DPS that disrupts enemy formation
  • Peech - Warrior that wreaks havoc on the frontmost enemy
  • Octavia - Compliments Peech by buffing her already impressive armor penetration

As of the writing of this article, Guus is the newest hero to join the Hero Wars Alliance roster. He’s a Healer who’s also incredible at buffing critical hits. This team takes advantage of that by pairing him with Julius to boost everyone’s critical hits even more. However, this team requires a very high level to function since Dante only gets a critical hit boost after getting his second talisman, which only unlocks at level 120.

Team 2: Tower Busters

Members:

  • Maya - Healer that’s best for prolonged battles
  • Morrigan - Will prevent any annoying resurrection strategies
  • Galahad - Good DPS frontliner with AoE capabilities
  • Julius - Tank that shields your team
  • Mushy & Shroom - Tank that unleashes hordes of underlings

This team will help you clear the daily Tower with ease. Julius and Mushy will help protect your team, while Galahad and Morrigan continuously deal damage. Tower battles tend to last long, so Maya will have enough time to trigger her regenerative abilities.

Tips for Building Your Own Hero Wars Team

If you feel like building your own unique team rather than picking from the teams above, here’s what you need to know.

  • Figure out what strategy you want first. Do you want a team that’ll hit hard and fast, hold the line, or use mass buffs and debuffs? Once you decide what strategy you want, only then can you make the best of your hero-picking.
  • Consider character synergies. Either research them online or just look at the Hero Synergy part of the character screen after holding down a character icon.
  • An easy way to build teams is to simply select them based on factions. Heroes have certain abilities or stats that get boosted when paired with heroes from the same faction.

Conclusion

Crafting a team that best suits your playstyle is half the fun in playing Hero Wars Alliance, but with dozens of heroes (and counting), all of which serve different purposes, it can be tricky to find the right ones to do the job.

The Hero Wars teams listed here aren’t the be-all and end-all. Players can make counters for them with some research and testing. So, make sure to check your opponent’s roster and see if they have characters that can beat your heroes and then respond accordingly.
